Ceilidh Workshop

Friends and acquaintances gathered and enjoyed an afternoon of Scottish dancing - the ceilidhs. Well-known dances such as the Virginia Reel and Gay Gordons were danced enthusiastically to traditional music. Everyone had a lot of fun and went home with new impressions after a hearty buffet - the potluck.

Flashmob Aachen

There was a spontaneous crowd of people dancing in a public square in Aachen. Members of various Scottish dance groups danced Mairie's Wedding and The Piper and the Penguin in wintry conditions. After a brief encounter, the crowd dispersed in all directions.

British Flair 2023

Tradition and Innovation was the motto for this year's British Flair. For the first time the country fair and charity event took place on Gut Basthorst outside of Hamburg. The late summer day could not have been more brilliant, and the venue was perfectly suited to displaying all things British. The @Scottish Country Dancers of Hamburg demonstration team - including some first-time performers! - danced on stage twice in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd.

Ball 2023

We had a ball! Our group's first big post-pandemic 'to do' at a new venue Volkshaus Berne and with a new committee was a rousing success due to @Silke and @Matthias playing for us. And of course due to all of you coming to dance and celebrate the @RSCDS Dance Scottish centenary with us. Thank you! We look forward to seeing you all again in Hamburg for the next event!

Three candidates successfully pass Units 2 and 3

Two weeks of hard work for feet and brain have paid off: Sylvia, Faye and Sabine successfully passed their Unit 2 and 3 exams at Summer School 2023 in St Andrews, thus achieving Part 1 of the RSCDS Teaching Certificate. Until the final exam (which will take place in two years time at the earliest) the three will continue to gain teaching experience and document it for the next Unit 4. Congratulations on passing the exams.
